🎷Festival week, and every week between

Live jazz in Calgary,
from festival stages to back-room sessions.

An independent guide to jazz in Calgary. Festival coverage when the city swings in June, and the year-round map of rooms, jams, and players the rest of the calendar. We are not the festival — we are the audience that keeps showing up.

The scene

Calgary jazz is bigger than one week in June

JazzYYC anchors the festival calendar, but the scene runs year-round: standards nights in Inglewood, student ensembles downtown, and touring players passing through rooms half the city does not know exist. This site keeps the whole map in one place — who is playing, where the jams are, and how to start listening if you never have.

Where Calgary hears jazz

Rooms that program jazz regularly or host it well when it comes through. Confirm dates before heading out.

  • Ironwood Stage & Grill
    Inglewood

The workhorse of Calgary live music. Regular jazz bookings, dinner-show format, listening-room manners.

  • The King Eddy
    East Village

Historic blues-and-roots hotel reborn beside Studio Bell. Jazz and adjacent acts in a room built for it.

  • Betty Lou's Library
    17th Avenue

Prohibition-style speakeasy with live jazz nights. Reservations and a password. Worth both.

  • The Blues Can
    Inglewood

Blues first, but the Sunday sessions and crossover bookings earn its place on this list.

  • Studio Bell — National Music Centre
    East Village

Performances, exhibitions, and workshops in Canada's music museum. Check the live calendar.

  • Jack Singer Concert Hall
    Arts Commons, downtown

Where the big touring names land — festival headliners and jazz-at-the-phil style programming.

  • JazzYYC
    Organization

The nonprofit that runs Calgary's jazz festivals and year-round series. Their calendar is the scene's spine.

  • Asylum for Art
    Various

Listening-room shows and improvised music in intimate settings. Small caps, serious ears.
